2021 Team BC Wrap Up

From everyone at BCPFA, we would like to thank everyone that took part in 2021 Team BC and our inaugural Regional Academies. Athletes, coaches, volunteers, and parents/guardians, thank you so much for all the time you put into making Football happen in unprecedented times of constantly changing restrictions. We hope it was a positive and valuable experience.

Our 2021 Regional Academies launched during a Pandemic, but we had over 500 athletes take part in our 7 BCPFA Regional Academies across the Province. Training from January to April, these athletes put in immense time and work into improving their skills and to compete for a spot on Team BC.

REGIONAL GAMES

In June 2021, the Regional Games were hosted at Newton Athletic Park where the athletes were able to showcase their hard work.

BOWL GAMES

Following these games, selections were made for U14, U16, and U18 teams to compete in July in Bowl Games (Youth Bowl, Junior Bowl, Senior Bowl) and provide coaches an opportunity to see the athletes in action before making final Team BC Selection. These games can be viewed on the BCPFA YouTube Channel.

Athletes who attended these Bowl Games were then eligible for Canadian Sport Institute Pacific Athlete carding. Our policies for carding are here.

FINAL TEAM BC SELECTIONS - Games vs Team Alberta

Final Team BC Selections were made for the U16, U17, and U18 age levels. Normally, the U18 Team BC team would compete at the Canada Cup and the U16 Team BC team would compete at the U16 Western Regional Challenge, but due to the Pandemic, no events were occurring.

Interprovincial games were instead set up against Team Alberta in a 'Battle of the West' and took place December 20th and 21st, 2021 at McLeod Stadium in Langley. The U16, U17, and U18 teams each had an opportunity to play against Team Alberta, with the U17 and U18 Team BC squads coming out victorious.
