Subject: BCPFA Update: PHO Order - Proof of Vaccination Mandate

Dear Club Presidents and Stakeholders;

Earlier today I attended a sector wide COVID19 meeting with the 60+ provincial organizations who represent each sport in BC. During the call we were advised by Via Sport that several major changes had been made to the current provincial health order (PHO). We were further advised that these changes are effective immediately.

The main changes impacting outdoor football programs are as follows:

D. PROOF OF VACCINATION

7. An adult must have received two doses of vaccine if the adult is leading, supervising or assisting with a program for children or youth, whether the program takes place inside or outside.

8. An adult who had not received two doses of vaccine must not lead, supervise or assist with a program for children or youth, whether the program takes place inside or outside.

The full public health order can be found here.

These changes mean football coaches, managers, and volunteers (or any adults who are supervising or assisting with a football activity) are now required to show proof of FULL (Double) Vaccination. The requirement to be double vaccinated may also include match officials/umpires.

We are working with the rest of the sport sector to gain further clarifications and to better establish how the various levels of government expect these mandates to be implemented. In addition, we are examining other changes to the PHO that may further impact any football programs delivered indoors.

On behalf of the BCPFA board and staff, I would like to once again thank you all for your efforts to ensure children have a safe place to play the great sport of football.

Kind regards,

Keith Ryan
